The Hedgecock Community Centre (HCC) delivers another impressive ‘End of Summer’ Community Funday
On Sunday 5th September which was a blazing hot day, more than 300 people packed out HCC and the surrounding areas. Also in attendance was ward Cllr Faruk Choudhury, and the Leader of the Council, Darren Rodwell, amongst other community members. Activities included BBQ, Bouncy Castles, Air Shoot, Air Juggler, arts and crafts for kids, face painting, Henna artists, various handicraft stalls.
Also, there was a charity stall by Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK (BRTUK) and Barking Community Forum (BCF) selling Mojito, fruit platters and PB’s chutneys. The main attraction was various boxing demos and showcasing of talent by Boxer’s Fitness Academy (BFA).
Cllr Rodwell acknowledged the work of the HCC management during the height of the coronavirus pandemic and how they helped to keep the residents safe and ensure the Borough was moving forward regardless of the situation.
Yousuf Khan, Chair of Hedgecock Community Centre thanked all the staff and volunteers for working extremely hard at a very short time to put the event together and he also thanked all the residents and partners for making it yet another successful event this year.
Finally, Nazir Ali, HCC Marketing Lead added that this event showed the community have outgrown the HCC area and hopeful that next year this event could be moved to Mayesbrook Park and with the council’s support we could make it an annual community fair.
