Almost 10 years since the Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK (BRTUK) implemented the Principle Women’s College (PWC), the first one in the area near Kamal Pur, Bagicha Bazar, Biswanath, Sylhet. The donors and supporters of BRTUK financially support the teachers and staffing costs so that girls from the surrounding rural villages could attend and have opportunities for mainstream education, learning and development for a better and prosperous future. This was the vision of BRTUK, the governing body of the college, and the students, focusing on Economics, English, ICT, Islamic Studies and Bangla. Since then, many girls have successfully progressed to further education, including the prestigious Sylhet Shahjalal University and attained jobs such as in teaching and coaching.
The college principal, Md Warid Ullah had been involved for more than 5 years and said “our heartiest congratulations to all our beloved students of PWC on their brilliant results in the HSC examination 2021.”
BRTUK is a small charity (charity number 1137016), set up primarily to work in education, health and livelihood initiatives to alleviate poverty across rural Bangladesh. Their Chairperson, Saleha Islam also added “A special congratulations to all the students who have successfully passed their HSC exams. And a special thanks to our donors, our parents and guardians, our teachers, and of course the students for their dedication and perseverance to achieve similar to mainstream education establishments!”
