Weavers Community Forum held their AGM and elects a new committee for the session of 2022-24
Weavers Community Forum elects a new Executive Committee

Weavers Community Forum (WCF) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2022 on Monday 13th June at the Weavers Community Centre.

Attended by members and trustees; Chairperson, Abdul Malick thanked and welcomed all the participants to the AGM. The Annual Activity Report was presented by the Managing Director, Yousuf Khan and Finance Report was presented by the Treasurer, Azafor Miah. Following this, a new Executive  Committee was duly elected to run the organisation for the next two years. 

The following members were elected to the Executive Committee for the 2022-2024 session: 

Chairperson: Muzammel Hussen

Vice Chair: Abdi Wali Sabree 

Secretary: Mainul Islam Haider 

Treasurer: Azafor Miah

and along with five other Executive Committee Members. 

The former chairperson; Abdul Malick who stepped down from his role and from the Executive Committee said, “since the beginning of our journey in 2010, we have continued to grow as an organisation; delivering much needed services for our community, and with the continued help from the local authority we would like to oversee a centre extension to facilitate much growing needs of our local community.”

He also thanked all the management committee members and volunteers for coming forward, responding to the emergencies and “supporting communities when they needed the most help, through the Foodbank support services and the Employment Training & Advice project.”

The WCF’s Managing Director Yousuf Khan provided the annual report for the organisation, reporting on the progress and future aspirations. He summarised by saying; “the past 2 years had been exceptionally difficult for the community, and how everyone Involved in WCF stepped up to respond to the crisis to support all those who were in need” and praising the funders and partners for all their support during this difficult time. 

Yousuf Khan also highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 Crisis Support Service (Foodbank project) and how it was reaching out to the most vulnerable and the deprived members of the community supporting 600 families across London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 

“It is a proud achievement for the organisation as a whole and our partners.”

The Treasurer, Azafor Miah provided members with a finance report for the year 2021/2022 acknowledging the financial and social constraints of the Covid 19 pandemic. 

Newly elected Chair; Muzammel Hussen thanked everyone for making this event successful. He looked forward to working together in partnership with local stakeholders for the betterment of the community.
