Two organisations came together to deliver the End of Summer Community Funday in Bow

Ocean Youth Connexions (OYC) in partnership with Malmesbury Community Projects (MCP) delivered another successful funday at Caxton Hall, Bow.

The event brought the whole community together on Sunday 28th August with the “free” End of Summer, Community Fun Day. Members of these two organisations spent the last 4 weeks planning the event, which turned out to be a huge success with more than 300 people from all walks of life attending throughout the day.

The fun day had an assortment of activities on offer such as bouncy castles, Nerf shootout, burgers, mojitos, cakes, slush and candy, face painting, henna designs, fun games, horse and cart and much more.

The horse and cart was a great attraction; taking groups on a tour around the estate.

OYC provided food and drinks at nominal costs which was ideal.
“We didn’t want the looming energy bills and the cost of living crisis dampen our event. Hence, everything was provided almost at cost price or free” said Kamal Ahmed of OYC and the lead organiser of this event.

“I’ve seen many events happen here at Caxton Hall. However, this was a great success with a huge turnout from people of this estate and across Tower Hamlets and beyond.” Said Hobibur, another organiser and youth worker of OYC.
MCP provided Caxton Hall in-kind and the volunteers helped out on marketing and selling cakes and mojitos.
This year also had a charity partner; Bangladesh Regeneration Trust UK (BRTUK) selling cakes, tea and mojitos and raising much needed funds for property stricken and marginalised people in rural Bangladesh.
A huge thank you to everyone from the community that turned up. Special thanks to all of our staff and volunteers including Kamrul, Fatima, Rajmina, Nazuma, Abdul Kadir, Abdul Ahad, Shah, and Jamshed who helped make this event a success and to all of our stall holders for allowing us the opportunity to help market your brands. Big shout out to all of our youth club members that helped out through out the day, especially the team that superbly managed the contact grill burgers and food distribution. They did a fantastic job at helping to provide more than 250 delicious burgers through the day. We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you at our bigger event next year!

Our special appreciation to RC Catering and Events for sponsoring the cakes for this event. Also to OYC and MCP management and trustees and community leaders that were in attendance.
