On Tuesday 20^th December 2022, at 7.30pm, at the Turquoise Restaurant, Green Street, East London, BPKP executive committee members and advisors gathered to finalise their nomination and election procedures which was called on 17^th January 2023, at the Royal Regency Hall, 501 High Street North, Manor Park, London E12 6QN at 6.00pm.

In attendance were Shahgir Bakth Faruk (senior advisor), Sami Sana Ullah (advisor), Ashikur Rahman (Chair), Mayen Uddin (Secretary), and Jahangir Khan, Foyzur Rahman, Dy Syed Mashuk Ahmed, Nuruz Zaman Salim, Abu Tarek Chowdhury, Dr Shamsul, Joynal Khan, Manikur Rahman, Shelina Chowdhury, Pritom Gosh, Noman Malik, Nazir Ali, Foysal Alam, Parvez Qureshi BEM, Nizam Uddin Zulu, Zain Miah, Kazi Arif, Mustak Babul, Jahangir Miah.

The meeting was commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ashikur Rahman and then conducted by Mayen Uddin Ansar and he also introduced the Chief Election Commissioner; Shahagir Bakth Faruk and Election Commioners: Sami Sanaullah Election and Aziz Chowdhury.

Ashikur Rahman requested everyone to participate in the election and act reasonably and professionally. He reminded everyone that the organisation was running for over 10 years without any obstacles and was able to serve the community within its abilities and constraints. Hence, all candidates will stand individually without any panels or cohorts. He also re-iterated that whatever the election outcome was, we all should work collectively to progress towards a better future of the organisation, the expats and the community.

Chief Election Commissioner Shahagir Bakth Faruk and Election Commissioner Sami Sanaullah, announced the election guidelines along with date time and location as follows:

Election Date: Tuesday 17th January 2023.

Venue: The Royal Regency Hall, 501 High Street North, Manor Park, London E12 6QN.

Vote casting time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Election results will be announced by the election commissioners later on in the same evening.

Nomination submission date is on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 between 7pm to 9pm at the Impression Event Venue, and in person to the election commissioners. Candidates could also submit the nomination form by email to the election commissioners by Tuesday 3rd January 2023 before 9pm, email details are on the nomination form and the circular.

Nomination withdrawal date: Tuesday 10th January 2023 before 9pm, Nomination fees are refundable only if the candidate withdraw his/her nomination by 10th January 3023 before 9pm.

Anyone who wishes to stand for Chair, General Secretary or Treasurer must be a valid EC Board member for two full terms.

All Life Members will have the right to stand for any position in the EC board except for Chair, General Secretary or Treasurer.

Any members who are, Chairperson, General Secretary or Treasurer in another “THANA, UPOZILA, DISTRICT OR NATIONAL” level organisation will not be able to stand for Chairperson, General Secretary or Treasurer in BPKP. If he or she holds any of these three positions in another organisation, they will need to step down from that position to participate in the BPKP election for any of these three roles.

Any new members made by 17.10.22 before 8pm will be able to vote and stand for an EC board member candidate at the election.

Any members made after 17.10.22 after 8pm will not be able to vote or stand for EC board member candidate at the 2023 election.

Nomination submitted and fee paid after the deadline will not be accepted. Any withdrawal request after the withdrawal date will not be accepted and the nomination fee will not be refunded.

The meeting ended with question-and-answer session and a sumptuous evening dinner.
