On Monday 24th June, at the Desi Lounge, Bethnal Green, friends and well-wishers from around the UK gathered to celebrate the recent election success of Akhlaqur Rahman; elected as the Treasurer of the highly regarded Bishwanath Probashi Education Trust for the session 2024-26.

The celebratory event was organised by his close friends group and on the night, the MC and hosts were Monir Ali and Tanvir Ahmed of Dashghar Union Progathi Trust. The event chair and a key organiser was Abdus Shahid Harun of Heavenly Desserts, Gallions Reach. The other friends and organisers included Anor Miah Shahjahan, Nazrul Islam, Kamal Uddin, Salim Ahmed, Akhtar Miah, Ruhul Amin, Mohammed Ali Monju, Kodor Uddin, Abdul Rahim Ronju to say a few.

Also present were some key members of Biswanath Probashi Education Trust (BPET) members and newly elected trustees including their General Secretary, Guljar Khan. There were key members of other Biswanathi organisations such as the Dashghar Union Progati Trust, Bishwanath Sports Association (BSA), Bishwanath Community Association (BCA), and Biswanath Aid.

The opening Quran recitation was beautifully read by Shuheb of BCA and followed by the presentation of a bouquet and a crest from his friends.

Afterwards, they proceeded with tributes and words of praise for Akhlaqur Rahman from young and old. This included a few words of support and appreciation from Anor Miah Shahjahan, Kamal Uddin, Guljar Khan, Azom Khan, Azizur Khan Raju, Misbah Uddin, Zakir Hussain Koyes, Salim Uddin, Akhtar Miah, Ruhul Amin, Abdul Hannan, Modoris Ali, Sadek Miah, Anfor Ali and many others. Everyone who knew him concluded that Akhlaqur was a very kind and generous personality always there for those in need. His compassionate leadership qualities were that he meticulously prepared for his passion for football and badminton, and rightfully deserves the role of the Treasurer of BPET. Guljar Khan, Secretary of BPET also praised the unity of the new BPET committee and their successes were already being realised due to the emergency collection of more than £26K within a few days for the flood victims of Biswanath Upazila.

There was also a surprise video presentation of Akhlaqur Rahman from his friends, capturing his memorable journey from childhood to current leadership.

The final speech of the night was from the man of the moment, Akhlaqur Rahman. He thanked everyone from his best friends and the organisers to all the participants for making this a memorable experience.

The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner and then a cake-cutting ceremony.
