From handover to hope: BPKP’s new executive committee takes charge
The first official meeting of the newly formed Executive Committee (EC) of the Bangladesh Probashi Kallyan Parishad (BPKP) took place on 28th May 2025 in Cafe Adda, Newham. The gathering marked a significant milestone as the new leadership assumed responsibility, with the EC members in attendance.
Handover Ceremony
A heartfelt handover ceremony was conducted to honour the contributions of the outgoing committee. Floral presentations were made to:

– Ahbab Hussain – Former Secretary
– Abdul Halim – Former Treasurer
The outgoing Chair, Mr. Jahangir Khan, shared words of encouragement and emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration within the new committee to fulfil BPKP’s mission. He underscored the significance of continuing the legacy and objectives of the organisation.
Key organisational materials, including legal documents, membership forms, and bank paperwork, were officially handed over to the new leadership.

• Secretary: Mustak Babul
• Treasurer: Dr. Syed Mashuk Ahmed
Following the handover, the meeting was chaired by Abdul Bari, who presented his vision to elevate BPKP to new heights. He stressed the importance of strategic planning, community engagement, and building on past successes.
Secretary Mustak Babul and Treasurer Dr. Syed Mashuk Ahmed also shared their commitment to strengthening the organisation and pledged their support for collaborative growth.

• Organising a BPKP Annual Conference focusing on Bangladesh-centric issues
• Conducting a roles and responsibilities workshop for all EC members
• Hosting an Away Day for business planning and team alignment

• Formation of group leads to drive specific workstreams
• Launch of income generation projects
• Organising NRB-focused advice sessions, networking events, and casework support
• Establishing a hotline/email for NRB communication
• Campaign for NRB voting rights
• Engagement with influencers to promote BPKP’s work
• Implementation of a code of conduct and improved time management for meetings
• Induction and training for new members
Community & Cultural Engagement
• Planning a second cultural event within the year
• Assigning teams for NRB events
• Securing sponsorships and memberships
Collaboration & Advocacy
• Initiating regular communication with the High Commissioner
• Developing partnerships with other organisations
• Establishing a committee in Bangladesh to extend outreach
• Advocating for Probashi support in the Middle East and beyond

The session concluded with renewed energy and a collective commitment to driving the BPKP mission forward. The EC aims to work diligently, campaign effectively, and represent the voice of Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) across the UK and Europe.
