22-year-old Ijaz Rahman, born in Luton, UK and with proud family roots in Chok Kashimpur, Doshgor, Biswanath, recently travelled to Bangladesh for three days of football trials between 28th and 30th June with hopes of making it into the Bangladesh U23 or even the senior national team.

Accompanied by his father, Muminoor Rahman, Ijaz undertook this journey with passion and determination. Over the course of the trials, he delivered a strong performance; scoring one goal and assisting three others.

Now, both father and son await the decision from the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), which is expected to come ahead of the AFC U23 Qualifiers, scheduled from 1–9 September 2025. The final tournament will be held in Saudi Arabia, from 7–25 January 2026.

“He’s worked really hard. He scored 1 and assisted 3 over the 3 days. Now we pray to Allah and hope for a positive outcome from BFF,” said Muminoor. “Please keep Ijaz and our family in your duas!” He added.

The Bangladeshi community in Luton wishes Ijaz the very best as he awaits what could be a life-changing opportunity to represent Bangladesh on the international stage.
