Sonali Othith delivers a spectacular inaugural Greater Sylhet Open Age Upazila Cup 2025
By Nazir Ali
Since 2001, Sonali Othith UK has been a driving force in British Bangladeshi football, promoting health, fitness, and unity, particularly among veteran age groups (35+, 40+, 45+, 50+).

Now under the guidance of a strong 21-member Management Committee, including Cllr Suluk Ahmed (Chairman), Joynal Abdin Miah (Secretary), and others, the organisation has taken a bold new step by launching the first-ever Greater Sylhet Open Age Upazila Cup 2025.
And what a debut it was.
Held at the Bobby Moore Sports Hub, Parsloes Park, Dagenham, the tournament featured 14 competitive Upazila teams from across Greater Sylhet:
Jagannathpur · Derai · Balaganj · Nobiganj · Osmani Nagar · Sylhet Sadar · Bishwanath · Dakshin Sunamganj · Dakshin Surma · Moulvibazar · Beani Bazar · Chhatak · Barlekha · Golapganj
ē
Among the stories that captured attention was Bishwanath’s journey. After a 1-1 draw with Golapganj and a narrow 2-1 defeat to Chhatak, they bounced back with a stunning 9-0 winover Dakshin Sunamganj. But with fewer teams in their group, their qualification hopes relied on another result, pwhich ended in a draw. Despite their heroics, Bishwanath were eliminated.

Final Four Confirmed – Super Sunday Awaits
