London Enterprise Academy and Bangladesh Regeneration Trust strengthen Community Partnership

On Friday, 3rd October, London Enterprise Academy (LEA), located on Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets, hosted the management, members, and volunteers of the Bangladesh Regeneration Trust (BRT) as part of LEA’s ongoing Community Engagement initiative. The event was led by Principal Ashid Ali and Career Development & Community Engagement Officer Muhi Mikdad, along with their dedicated team.

Among the distinguished guests from BRT were Nazir Ali (Secretary), Yahya Alkasmiah (Executive Member), and members Aminul Islam, Nazrul Hoque, Kamal Ahmed, and Alam Sheikh. Also in attendance were enthusiastic volunteers Harun Rashid, Jamal Khan, Abdul Mukith, and Abdul Gaffar, as well as participants of the forthcoming Bangladesh Heritage Tour 2026, Shah Jahan and Moshahid Miah.
During the event, Principal Ashid Ali reflected on LEA’s participation in the BRT Heritage Tour 2024, sharing heartfelt memories, photos, and videos that captured the transformative experience. He also spoke about the school’s subsequent independent visit in early 2025 and plans to return again in early 2026.
Mr. Ali highlighted the profound impact these heritage tours have on young people:
“This trip is incredibly important for our students. For some, it reconnects them with their family heritage, while for others, it opens their eyes to a different way of life. It offers perspective; showing how people in rural Bangladesh work tirelessly to survive and pursue education despite immense challenges. I would encourage everyone, especially teenagers, to join BRT or seek similar opportunities to experience Bangladesh firsthand. It’s a journey that cultivates gratitude and global awareness.”
Throughout the evening, attendees shared memories of over a decade of successful Heritage Tours, celebrating the positive impact these initiatives have had on both students and communities abroad.
The event also marked a formal recognition of the partnership between LEA and BRT, particularly in areas of educational sponsorship and community-driven charitable projects. LEA presented certificates and awards to individuals whose contributions ensured the success of the 2024 Heritage Tour. The evening concluded with a delightful dinner, thoughtfully organised by Muhi Mikdad and his team, featuring an array of delicious food and refreshments.

The event reaffirmed that London Enterprise Academy, a community-focused free school in the heart of Tower Hamlets, is far more than a traditional educational institution. LEA is dedicated to nurturing global citizens; enriching students with cultural awareness, empathy, and experiences that extend well beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead, LEA and BRT agreed to collaborate on several upcoming initiatives, including a Charity Week, a London Bridges Walk, and a 10-Year Celebration to mark a decade of partnership and impact; engaging students, parents, and the wider community.
