More than 200 guests gathered at Regency Lake in Bow for the Tower Hamlets Muslim Staff Forum (THMSF) annual charity dinner; an evening that powerfully showcased generosity, unity and community leadership. The event raised over £25,000 for Islamic Relief UK, supporting children in Gaza, who are currently among the most war-affected children in the world.

Hosted by Nasim Ahmed, the dinner brought together colleagues, community leaders and guests for an inspiring programme of reflection, solidarity and action. Attendees were moved by compelling speeches from senior leaders, alongside a powerful address by Dr Wajid Akhter, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), which underscored the importance of unity, collective responsibility and responding to humanitarian crises with compassion and generosity.

Currently chaired by Akrom Miah, THMSF is widely recognised as one of the most active and influential staff networks in the UK. Operating independently while working constructively alongside council policies, the Forum plays a vital role in advocating for the wellbeing, professional development and fair representation of Muslim staff. Its work spans HR-related support, addressing workplace challenges and championing equity across the workforce; helping to ensure it genuinely reflects the diverse community it serves.

A particularly striking highlight of the evening was the announcement that, since its establishment nearly 20 years ago, THMSF has raised more than £500,000 for charitable causes across the globe; an extraordinary legacy of impact, service and sustained commitment.

Beyond its charitable efforts, THMSF continues to recognise and honour staff who go above and beyond in their professional roles, further strengthening a culture of excellence, recognition and community commitment.

The evening stood as a testament to what can be achieved when purpose, compassion and collective action come together. The event concluded with mouth-watering food, generously sponsored by Kismet Café and Shifa Health and Social Care, providing a fitting close to an uplifting and memorable night.
