The Significance of Patience and Perseverance in Academic Struggles
One of the important teachings of Surah Fathiha related to academic pursuits is the significance of patience and perseverance in academic struggles. Allah SWT reminds us in the Quran that every individual faces challenges in their lives and that it is through patience and perseverance that one can overcome these challenges. Allah SWT said in the Qur’an, “And seek help in patience and prayer, and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for those who are humbly submissive (to Allah SWT)” (2:45) emphasises the importance of patience and perseverance in seeking knowledge.
Academic struggles can be challenging, and it is easy to become disheartened when faced with difficult situations. However, it is important to remember that Allah SWT rewards those who are patient and persevere through difficult times. In Surah Al-Asr, Allah SWT reminds us that “Indeed, mankind is at loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience” (103:2-3). This verse highlights the importance of patience and perseverance in achieving success in both academic and personal life.
Furthermore, the Quranic verse, “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah SWT is with the patient” (2:153) emphasises the importance of seeking Allah’s help through patience and prayer. In academic struggles, it is fruitful to remain patient and turn to Allah SWT for guidance and support. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also emphasised the importance of patience and perseverance in seeking knowledge, “Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Book 3, Hadith 107).
The teachings of Surah Fathiha emphasise the significance of patience and perseverance in academic struggles. One must remain patient and seek Allah’s help and guidance through prayer as we repeatedly pray for Siratum Mustaqim to be on the straight path. Academic pursuits can be challenging, but through patience and perseverance one can overcome these challenges and achieve success.
