Post Desk : Londoners are set to enjoy spring-like conditions this weekend as tempratures hit up to 12C, according to the Met Office.

The capital can expect at least eight hours of glorious sunshine today, with highs of 12C.

Sunday will see the temperatures drop slightly with highs of 8C and dry sunny spells throughout the day.

Elsewhere, cloud and patchy rain will affect parts of Northern Ireland, western and southern Scotland, while the Met Office said that the weather across the UK will be “mostly dry” with “some sunshine for many, but chilly nights.”

The north of England could experience some rain on Saturday, while southerners enjoy the warmer weather.

On Sunday, the whole of the UK can expect dry weather, but with “some cloudier expectations”.

Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: “Winter will go out on a whimper this weekend with conditions set to be very quiet and dry for most.

“For southern parts of the country it’s looking like a lovely afternoon with plenty of sunny skies after a frosty start to the morning.

“Temperatures won’t be as mild as they have been in the last few days but the mercury will still be above average.

“Most parts of the UK will see temperatures of between 11C and 13C.”

Despite the sunny conditions which are sure to tempt many to visit parks and beaches this weekend, people are being warned to stick to ‘stay at home’ Covid lockdown rules.

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer for England, yesterday told the nation at a Downing Street press briefing “don’t wreck it now” as he urged Brits to remain disciplined.

The mild weather comes three weeks after snowfall and sub-zero temperatures swept across much of the UK.
