Bishwanath Community Association (BCA) storms to victory without losing a single game!

On Sunday 19th September, at Stepney Astroturf football pitch, Bishwanath Community Association (BCA) stormed to victory without losing a single game in the charity tournament organised by Biswanath Aid UK.

Only in their second attempt, BCA led by Chairman Akhlaqur Rahman and Vice Chair and Mr Akhtar Miah, managed to win this renowned community tournament.

Since 2017, Biswanath Aid UK, led by Abdul Rahim Ronju (Chairman), Zakir Hussain, Faruk Miah, Misba Uddin and others have been organising this annual charity football tournament to attract talented footballing teams across the UK from community organisations rooted in the 8 unions of Bishwanath. Twelve teams participated in this year’s tournament, including BCA.

Early in the day, BCA did their kit launch from the top of the Arena Tower, IOD, where the new kit and sponsors; AK Associates (Abdul Korim) and Ballingdon Valley Indian Cuisine (Abdus Shahid Harun) were unveiled. The Manager of BCA was Pervez Chowdhury or ‘PB’ as he was known to the world of community football and supported by Reza Miah. The vast pool of young and talented squad to choose from comprised of Saqlain, Shuheb, Rukon, Rokib, Ishaq, Mahdi, Ijaz, Hadi, Jay, Mamun, Attik, Shafi, Reza, Akhtar, Habib, Sadique, Masum, Shelim, Abdul Korim and Koyes (Goalkeeper). Also present were Anam, Anor Ali, Nazrul Islam, Shahjahan, Bilal, Khairul Islam, Abdul Ahad Lilu, Salim Ahmed, Shahin Miah, and Nazir Ali.

On the pitch, after a nervy start against Rampasha & Doshgor Union FC (0-0), BCA brushed aside Samad Ullah Trust (4-0) and Biswanath Aid (5-0), and got to the quarter finals against Bishwanath FC (2-0) and semi-finals against Lamakazi FC (2-0) and then into the final without conceding a single goal thanks to the phenomenal keeper Koyes Ali (Milton Keynes) and a solid defense. They faced Bishwanath Pauroshoba FC in the finals, who lost 3-2 on penalties. “BCA were the deserved winners of this tournament!” shouted PB. “There were a lot of energy and talent on display, and they not only defended well, but also scored quality goals” mentioned PB. The Man of the Match was goalkeeper Koyes Ali. The top scorer was Ishaq Amin. “This is a phenomenal achievement for a young team.” Uttered a joyous Akhlaqur “They worked really hard as a team, especially Ishaq, considering his circumstances and the loss of his father, Mr Hamid Miah only a few days ago. I am so pleased for him” added Akhlaqur.

“This team has a bright future and hopefully I can be with them all the way!” added Harun, one of the sponsors of BCA. The awarding ceremony was attended by community dignitaries including Tower Hamlets Speaker Cllr Ahbab Hussain, Barrister and Cllr Nazir Ahmed and Cllr Ayesha Chowdhury. “We must organise a victory celebration event soon!” added BCA Marketing Lead, Nazir Ali. “Where all the Bishwanathis and friends can come together under one roof!” added Nazir. BCA’s next tournament is at the end of October in Northampton.
