The following electron commissioners were also present; Chief Election Commissioner; Shahagir Bakth Faruk, Election Commissioner; Sami Sanaullah and Election Commissioner; Aziz Choudhury. They all commended the work of BPKP so far. It was a uniquely positioned organisation amongst the Bangladeshi community, focusing on campaigning for the rights of the Non-residential Bangladeshis (NRBs) in Bangladesh through close links with the Bangladesh High Commission and their Patron and Foreign Minister Dr A. K. Abdul Momen. Their biggest success is that 30th December was chosen as the “Jathiyo Probashi Dibosh” or the National NRB Day for more than 13 million NRBs across the globe. At around 9.00pm, the new Executive Committee was declared, one by one, by the Election Commissioners. The following were the 3 office bearers; Chairman: Jahangir Khan, General Secretary: Syed Ahbab Hossain and Treasurer: Abdul Halim Choudhury, who continues this same role from the previous session. Ashikur Rahman is now an EC member and Mayen Uddin Ansar is now 1 of the 7 Vice Chairs. A further 31 people were assigned to various roles, with 5 vacancies to be filled up at a later date. There wasn’t a need for an election as there was a role for each member with no two members contesting for one role.

“I congratulate the new office bearers for their new roles and wish them all my heartfelt support” Said Mr Ashikur Rahman. “And I hope everyone will continue to support them and expand the role of BPKP” added Ashikur.

Mayne Uddin Ansar stated, “It was a privilege to serve BPKP as the General Secretary and we have achieved many things over the years, and we will continue to do so only if we all work together and I congratulate the newly elected committee”.

The new Chairman, Jahangir Khan thanked all the election commissioners and the members for giving him a full mandate for the next two years. “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to serve BPKP and all our members across the globe,” He added.

Finally, the new General Secretary, Syed Ahbab Hossain thanked everyone for trusting him with a very important role in the organisation, “I hope and pray that I can fulfil this Amanah entrusted upon us and further the cause of BPKP,” said Syed Ahbab.

The evening ended with various photo sessions and a sumptuous dinner.
