London Sportif Charity Badminton Tournament for Bangladesh Flood Victims

Published: 25 September 2024

On Wednesday 18th September, at least 16 pairs of hardcore badminton enthusiasts convened at the Jesse Jackson Sports Hall, London Enterprise Academy (LEA) to compete for the top gong in a charity badminton tournament, where all the funds go to support the flood-affected people in Bangladesh through the charity Bangladesh Regeneration Trust (BRTUK).

The tournament was co-organised by LEA and London Sportif, namely by Principal, Ashid Ali and Careers Advisor & Parental Engagement Officer Muhi Mikdad from LEA, and Atikur Rahman (Treasurer) and Shahin Joy (Head of Badminton) from London Sportif.

As for the competition, some excellent badminton qualities were played, all with a very positive spirit and camaraderie. However, after more than 5 hours of enduring competition, and the clocking ticking towards midnight, there had to be only one pair of winners of the LEA Charity Champion Trophy 2024. The following outcomes were achieved:
Champions – MA Numan & Jahed Naeem
Runners Up – Shueb Ahmed & Jakariya Khan
Best Player – Jahed Naeem

The London Sportif and BRTUK representatives handed out the trophies to the winners and runner-up.

“LEA is always happy to support charitable initiatives such as this one. We know that many of our students are of Bangladeshi heritage and the floods would have significantly impacted some of their ancestral homes. Also, some good badminton was on display, today.” Said Ashid Ali.
“Hopefully, this small fund can go towards emergency packs and home repair work being carried out by BRTUK.” He added.
