Post Desk : The International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday issued a death warrant for convicted war criminal Syed Mohammad Qaisar a day after the Supreme Court released the full text of its verdict upholding his death penalty.

The International Crimes Tribunal registrar’s office sent the warrant to Dhaka Central Jail this morning following the tribunal’s directives, court sources said.

Copies of the warrant were also sent to the Dhaka district magistrate, and the home and the law ministries.
On December 23 in 2014, the ICT-2 awarded death penalty to Qaisar on 16 charges including committing crimes against humanity, raping and launching genocide in Habiganj area during the country’s Liberation War by forming an anti-liberation group named “Qaisar Group”.

On Wednesday, the SC released the full text of its January 14 verdict that upheld the death penalty of Quasem, leaving him with the only option of seeking review of the judgment.
